Daniel Razon won the Gintong Palad Public Service Awards for Broadcasting for his outstanding public service works for the indigents and marginalized through television channel UNTV.
The Movie Writers’ Welfare Foundation (MWWF) held the awarding on November 20 at One Esplanade in Pasay City.
Other prominent celebrities and personalities honored during the night’s awarding include local actresses Angel Locsin, Jolina Marian Rivera, Jolina Magdangal, and matinee actor Robin Padilla.
According to the MWFF, “these awards are given to those with the purest of hearts and intentions and selfless reaching out to the fellowmen in the face of natural calamities and disasters such as the recent earthquakes and Supertyphoon Yolanda.”
Together with Razon, who received the special citation for being instrumental in setting up the Movie Writers Welfare Foundation, are Rep. Alfred Vargas, Wilson Tieng, and Gov. E.R. Ejercito were also given the award.
MWWF President Emy Abuan thanked Kuya Daniel for helping the Movie Writers Welfare Foundation sustain their medical and dental mission.
“Kuya Daniel is very well known for really helping without expecting anything in return. He’s really helped us, in the Movie Writers Welfare Foundation,” said Abuan.
Kamanggagawa Foundation, one of the leading partners of UNTV in providing social welfare and healthcare services to public, was also awarded by the Gintong Palad Public Service for mounting relief works for the affected in the Bohol earthquake and Supertyphoon Haiyan (Yolanda).
Organized in 1998, the MWFF aims to take care of movie entertainment press members’ health need. The Foundation regularly holds medical-dental missions in cooperation with UNTV in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces.
Over the weekend, the veteran broadcast journalist and UNTV CEO received another award from the EPIC Award of the Philippine Academy of Medical Specialists.
Razon was honored among eight other recipients of the prestigious award for raising and providing healthcare services and awareness.
