A Rappler profile of Kuya Daniel, a moniker he is also fondly called, revealed him as a man of action best known for revolutionizing social good through the television network UNTV.
Reading through, you’ll quickly notice that there’s a lot to learn from the man known for his golden voice as radio announcer and magnetic charisma as television anchor from his earlier stints in ABS-CBN, GMA-7 and PTV-4.
Here’s a round-up of quotes from the interview:
On breaking convention in media Reporting
“I already have those concepts in mind during the time that I was still with the big networks, but of course I am not the one calling the shots in those big networks. That’s why I cannot actually give all the inputs that I have. But, when I started managing UNTV, I made it a point that I will be able to inject all the public services that I would like to start.”
On why doing good is a responsibility:
“We have to move (people) and tell them that there are things to be done and that we cannot do it alone. It’s also a way of telling people to help other people because we ourselves cannot do it alone. We are all capable of doing something good to other people.”
On God and his faith:
“God knows our heart. I just focus on the things that I have to do. You cannot please everyone, but you should not consider this as a distraction. (You) just have to go on and push through with whatever (you) have started because what is important is for you to be able to finish it.”
On how he define doing more:
“As I always tell my students, knowing what you want is one way of recognizing what opportunity to take. Doing more is like grabbing every opportunity that you have and not letting it pass. Every opportunity that you have to do good, you grab it.”
The multiplier effect of doing more:
“Even if you’re just doing little things but you’re doing it with every opportunity you get, at the end, you will find that you have done a lot of things already.”
